I think my husband Jesse must be a young handsome version of Gandalf... He is a wizard, and he's dragged me from a quiet life of 28 years into the adventure of a lifetime!

The past three years, we've moved from Minnesota to Missoula Montana to Santa Cruz California to Minnesota to Helena Montana to San Diego and finally back to Missoula. We had a baby girl (now 2), started our own business (RosesMagic.etsy.com), travelled the whole west coast, lived in our Jeep, spent a year homeless in San Diego, started a website and community for redheads (RedHairedRoots.com), the list goes on! I've been forced to face my greatest fears and do things I swore I'd never do.

The only thing that has not changed is I still love LOTR!

For those interested in keeping up to date (relatively) on my wanderings and adventures, check out mountainrosetales.wordpress.com and spiraldragons.com. I hope to eventually chronicle all our adventures there - and trust me, it is a tale worth the reading!

Now with a home again, settling in is both difficult and comforting. It is wonderful to have my own space, but part of me misses being somewhere new each day, waking up on the cliffs by the ocean, and not having any dishes to do!

Watching my baby grow through all of this has been the most wonderful adventure of all...
So I put the baby to bed nice and early last night, thinking I'll enjoy a quiet evening.

It was quiet - until midnight. Just as I was drifting off to sleep, "Mamama!" The baby wakes up for her nightly feeding. No surprise there, but after nursing she does not go sweetly back to sleep as usual. Instead, she tosses and whimpers for the next 3 hours from teething pain. When I finally nurse her back to sleep around 5 am, I am now hopelessly awake. It is now my turn to toss and fret for an hour, before I finally drift off to sleep.

Immediately, "whaaaa!" baby wakes up again for an early morning snack. I reach for her, and get a handful of wet diaper. I grope around her bed, and yes, it is wet. I drag myself out of bed, gather up the baby and the dirty sheets, and carry her to the bathroom for a change. Of course she fusses and squirms. I go to use the loo myself, only to discover there is no toilet paper. With baby in tow, I manged to locate a roll in the dark, but as I go to put it on the dispenser, it bounces away, unrolling down the stairs. I give up, and take the baby back to bed with me. Another feeding, and she sleeps at last.

The sun is now rising...

Ah, the joys of motherhood.

10:44 and the baby is finally asleep. She's a cutie, but a wild one! Working on label design for Rose's Magic right now. I draw everything by hand before we scan and print on the Mac. Gives our products a classic touch!

We are thinking of moving down to San Diego, so my husband can continue his massage training. It would be wonderful to see the ocean again...
